What is Ask FT?
Ask FT is a feature available to FT Professional Subscription users, designed to help subscribers quickly identify the most relevant FT content for their research needs. It provides summarised answers, citations, and links to supporting FT articles - based exclusively on FT journalism, not third-party sources or the wider internet.
You can enter simple, natural-language questions, just as you would in a standard search tool or Google search. Ask FT is accessed directly via FT.com, and no additional personal data is required to use it.
Ask FT searches FT content dating back to 2004, the beginning of the FT.com digital archive. While it aims to be accurate and helpful, the tool may occasionally make errors or misinterpret content - a known limitation of generative AI. However, it always provides source links and extracts so you can validate the answers yourself. The FT actively monitors and improves answer quality over time.
Ask FT is not classified as a high-risk AI system under the EU AI Act.
