What is the Portfolio tool?
The Portfolio Tool allows you to track the performance of your holdings; view relevant news stories and key fundamentals related to your portfolio holdings. All portfolios have holdings which are securities with transactions associated with them. In your FT Portfolio these are represented by an FT Symbol. When you are viewing a portfolio you can see this in one of the existing views: Your Portfolio, Dividends and Market Performance.
FT Symbols represent common stock or shares of a company, such as PSON for Pearson. There are often different classes of shares of a company’s common stock. For example, Berkshire Hathaway has BRK.A and BRK.B both of which you can see here.
Within the Analysis tab in your Portfolio, you can compare the performance of your holdings with that of an index indicative of the broader market, such as S&P 500 (.INX) or FTSE 100 or (.FTSE).
